Fortunately there are lots of charities, rights organisations and community initiatives both in the UK and worldwide that support LGBTQIA+ people. This page is dedicated to the ones I have personally found most useful. I am sure there are many I’ve not yet experienced and just because they are not listed here doesn’t mean they are any less worthy. Please contact me to add to the listing.
MINDOUT
I’m a board Trustee for MindOut, a mental health service run by and for LGBTQ+ people. If you’re struggling with your mental health and wellbeing, or need a friendly voice to talk to MindOut have a host of fantastic services and people on hand to support you.
the human rights campaign
The Human Rights Campaign represents a force of more than 3 million members and supporters nationwide. As the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization, HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ+ people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.
The WOW Network Women out at work
The WOW Network – Women Out Work has been formed to support, guide and connect with LGBTQ+ women who are either out at work or thinking about coming out at work.
The network aims to participate in Pride events across the UK, host regional meetups and provide a support to LGBTQ+ women online with a private Facebook group.

LGBT Switchboard
Switchboard provides a one-stop listening service for LGBTQ+ people on the phone, by email and through Instant Messaging.
There to help you with whatever you want to talk about. Nothing is off limits.
LGBT+ CONSORTIUM
One of the most comprehensive directories I have discovered so far!
The LGBT+ Consortium are a national specialist infrastructure and Membership organisation. They focus on the development and support of LGBT+ groups, organisations and projects so they can deliver direct services and campaign for individual rights.
INTERNATIONAL LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANS & INTERSEX ASSOCIATION (igla)
IGLA supports LGBTI civil society worldwide through advocacy and research projects. They are a worldwide federation of more than 1,600 organisations from over 150 countries and territories campaigning for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex human rights.

STONEWALL & YOUNG STONEWALL
The largest LGBTQ+charity in the world Stonewall partner with organisations that help create real change for the better. Loads of valuable information and advice on their websites. Coming Out stories and more. A great place to start exploring.
BIUK
BIUK conduct research on bisexuality in the UK and disseminate this to policy makers and practitioners (via their BiReCon event every other year, and reports like The Bisexuality Report). They also aim to raise awareness of the needs of bisexual people through their website and public engagement.

Allsorts Youth Project listens to, supports and connects children and young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or unsure (LGBTU) of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
They run youth groups in Brighton, Horsham, Chichester and Worthing.

MERMAIDS
Mermaids supports gender-diverse children and young people until their 20th birthday, as well as their families and professionals involved in their care.
Transgender and gender-variant children and teens need support and understanding, as well as the freedom to explore their gender identity. Whatever the outcome, Mermaids is committed to helping families navigate the challenges they may face.

Bi Community News (better known as BCN) is the UK's best-selling bisexual magazine, published six times a year.
It publishes as a not-for-profit community press journal and back issues are available on the website.

Online and Written Resources
A safe way of beginning to come out to yourself is through reading about how others have dealt with similar issues. There are many great books, articles, podcasts and studies available on all facets of LGBTQ+ life. These are also great resources for allies and families of LGBTQ individuals.
